Dr. L.G. "Bud" Everitt

The memorial services celebrating the life of Dr. L.G. “Bud” Everitt, 92, will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Enid with Rev. Andrew Long officiating.
Bud was born Oct. 4, 1923 in Enid, OK to Leslie Grant Everitt, Sr. and Madge Millard Everitt and died March 20, 2016 in Colorado. Bud attended McKinley grade school from 1929 to 1935, Emerson from 1935 to 1938 and graduated from Enid High in 1941. Bud attended O.U. for 2 years. He joined the Army serving in New Guinea and the Philippines in WWII and in the Korean War. Bud married Mary Elizabeth “Biddy” Green, she preceded him in death. He later married Maxine Overton who preceded him in death. His brother, Robert “Bob” Everitt also preceded him in death.
Bud began his career with Long Bell Lumber Company in Enid and then Everitt Lumber in Colorado with his father and brother. In 1960, Bud attended Wheaton College, graduating in 1962, then continued his education at Princeton Theological Seminary and graduating in 1965. He was honored with a Doctor of Divinity from Phillips in 1971.
He became the Associate Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Enid, July 7, 1965. His great grandmother, Elizabeth Everitt had been a Charter Member of this church. He then became the Pastor Oct. 13, 1968 and on Oct. 4, 1984 he became Pastor Emeritus.
After retirement, he moved to Florida and in 1995, he served as a Visiting Minister of Eastminister Presbyterian Church in Indialanic, Florida until 2003. Bud then moved to Colorado where he was a Supply Minister for Trinity Presbyterian Church in Arvada Colorado until 2016.
Bud is survived by 3 children, Leslie Sweatt and David Craig of Enid, Larry Everitt and Dee of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Doug Everitt and Jeanette of Lakewood, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, Rob Sweatt, Chris Sweatt, Dustin Sweatt, Nikki Craig Ybanez, Kristen Craig, Meredeth Hayes, Mari Edwards, and Tyler Everitt; and 20 great grandchildren.
Memorial contribution may be made to Circle of Love Hospice with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home as custodian.
