The funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Ray 1. Jones, 91, of Enid will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Burleson, of Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will follow at
Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army. A family visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Brown-
Cummings Funeral Home. Ray I. was born July 6, 1924 at Byers, OK to George and Sarah "Francis" Jones. He
was raised and educated in Pauls Valley, OK graduating from Pauls Valley High School in 1942. He married Laveta Louise Smith on October 28, 1943. They were married 57 years until her death February 2, 2001. They met at Turner Falls in Davis,
OK and spent many nights dancing to the Glen Miller band in the ballroom there. He served as Second Lt. in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Upon his return they moved to Oklahoma City in January 1945 where he worked as a rig builder until 1957.
On July 6, 1957 he moved his family to Cherokee, OK with the oil boom and started the Ray 1. Jones Service Co. In August 1962 they followed the work to Enid where he owned and operated the company for 30 years. He later married Zelda "Goodson" Jones and they were married for 12 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of the home; daughters Sandra Jones and Candice and Bill Lochner of Enid; sister Clara Brooks of Stillwater; two granddaughters Angela and
Mark Miller, Demmie Lochner all of Enid and one grandson Kinsey and Cass Holton of Charleston, Sc. He had five great-grandchildren Hensley Miller and Holton Miller of Enid; Audrey Holton, Taylor Holton and Dylan Holton of Charleston, Sc. He was
preceded in death by his parents and wife Laveta Jones.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Oklahoma Memorial Research Foundation Alzheimer's Division, Emmanuel Baptist Church or Hospice Circle of Love, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
