Margaret Freeman

The services celebrating the life of Mrs. Margaret A. (Gussie) Freeman will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in the Marbach Christian Church, 8023 Marbach Rd, San Antonio, TX. With Rev. Darnell Dotson officiating. Burial will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday December 26, 2016 in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Margaret was born on August 1, 1921 in Kremlin, Oklahoma and graduated from Enid High School. Her husband was a career US Air Force and their last move was to San Antonio in 1959. She was a devoted Civil Servant working in the Civilian Personnel Office at Lackland AFB from 1959 until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed Shine outings with her husband, playing Bingo with her sister and taking cruises with several close friends. After retirement, she was a tireless volunteer at the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. She was also a longtime active member of the Marbach Christian Church volunteering in several capacities.
She is survived by nieces, Sharon Bruno of Enid, Oklahoma, and Barbara Gumerson; nephews Robert Welsh of Iowa City, Iowa, James Welsh of Palm City, FL, and David Bell of Ponca City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don F.C. Freeman; parents, Gus and Maude Gumerson, two sisters, and five brothers.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Marbach Christian Church of San Antonio Texas with Brown-Cummings Funeral serving as custodian of the funds.
