The memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of Alice Dannetta Wynne, 82, of Ponca City, will be held privately. Alice died after battling cancer on June 8, 2024, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Complete cremation care is under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
Alice was born May 2, 1942, to Fredrick and Genevieve Schelin Collins in Forsyth, Montana. She was the seventh born of twelve children, one of which died at birth, plus one half-brother. Alice learned her hallmark love of family from the great love she and her four brothers and seven sisters shared. She was cherished not only by her own family but also by the many who came to know her. She was often referred to as my favorite sister, my favorite aunt, or my favorite friend.
Alice ws a dedicated wife and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and Charles David Wynne Jr. were married on February 14,1962, in Kellogg, Idaho. They were married 55 years until his death in 2017. From this union came four children. The couple lived in various places including Honolulu, Hawaii during her husband’s five and a half-year military service. They settled into civilian life in both Idaho and Washington state where they raised their children until they and their four children moved to California in 1978.
Her children have many fond memories of her such as making a snowman or having a snowball fight after the first winter snow, playing board games on a Sunday afternoon, the smell of her famous homemade cinnamon rolls as they were getting off the bus, the special treat of having hot cocoa and cookies waiting for them, going for rides and stopping for a picnic, cuddling up to her and watching a movie, and hearing her sweet voice in the morning as she woke them up for school.
She loved to laugh and enjoyed the simple things in life.
Her grandchildren remember her “kids nights” where they would get dressed up, she would set a formal table, she would cook them a special meal and give them special gifts. They would have topic questions and clap for and encourage one another. It was a tremendous way to promote love and unity among them. They will always remember her loving kindness, her stories, her hugs and kisses, and how she made each one feel special. She always encouraged them to do and be their best.
Her great grandchildren called her “Mima” – a name her great grandson Titus gave her when he was a toddler. They remember her for her sleepovers, her delicious breakfasts, playing games, her affection, the songs she sang them, and how she loved to sit and talk with them. The following is a poem Titus wrote and gave to her on this past Mother’s Day. She treasured it!
“Mima”
Mima is so wonderful and kind
A grandma like this is so hard to find
Her loving-kindness is spread around
Where Mima is, love is found
Her happiness is clear to see
She spreads her joy to you and me
Her hugs are spread around the earth
More than money are their worth
Wonderful memories fill my mind
Of an awesome Mima that is so kind!

Alice was a devoted member of the Philadelphia Church of God headquartered in Edmond, OK.
She lovingly committed her life to God and His Work and dearly loved her Church family. She greatly enjoyed getting them together and cooking a meal for them. She was well known for her hospitality, her friendly smile, her warm hugs, her sincere kindness, and pleasant personality. She had deep dimples and bight blue eyes that lit up as she greeted people.
Alice Wynne left a lasting impression on all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be sorely missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering, and we will see her again.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him. ~ James 1:12 ESV
