Amon P. Lawson Jr.

April 10, 1946 — November 11, 2019

The Home Going celebrating and honoring the life of Amon P. Lawson Jr., 73, of Enid will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday November 18, 2019 in the First Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Wilbur Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born on April 10, 1946 to Amon Lawson Sr. and Leanna V. Dixon Hart in Enid, Oklahoma and passed from this life on November 11, 2019 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Enid, Oklahoma where he graduated from Enid High School. He began working for the City of Enid. He then worked for the Enid State School. He worked as a custodian, mailman and was an all-around good helper. He worked at the Booker T. Washington Center and custodial work for Tinker Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed cars, especially the 1972 and 1985 Ford Mustang. He like to garden and would always make sure his yard was on point. Most above all else, he loved his family.

He is survived by his children, Preston Dority, of Enid, OK. Valentina Yolander "Tina" Towers, Yvette Lawson and Amon Preston Lawson Jr., all of Oklahoma City, OK., and D'Angela Harber, brother Larry Lawson, of Enid, OK., sisters, Donna Lawson Harris, of Wichita, KS. and Delorise William, of Atlanta, GA., a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie Eugene Lawson and his daughter Rashetta Dawn Dority.
