The Mass of Mrs. Arlene I. Nusz Hess Sturgeon, 75, of Carrier will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday April 3, 2018 in the Saint Francis Xavier Church with the Reverend Father Joseph Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday April 2, 2018 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel.
She was born to Mr. Willie and Mrs. Margaret Oberst Nusz December 20, 1942 in Enid and passed from this life on March 27, 2018, in Enid.
She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic High School, graduating in 1960, while working at the Gold Spot Dairy.
She married James W. Hess on November 18, 1961 in Enid and had four children.
She traveled for the next thirty years supporting her husband’s military service.
In 1980 they made their home in Enid. She worked at Sister’s Cupboard of St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement in 1997.
She married Bill D. Sturgeon in 1994.
She was an avid researcher of her family’s genealogy, enjoyed site seeing and had travelled extensively.
She is survived by her sons; Paul Hess and Karla Patocka, of Carrier and Jarrod Hess and wife Michelle of Lakeland, Florida, daughter; Colleen Williams and husband John of North Pole, Alaska; grandchildren, Eileen and husband Whit Collins, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Patrick Williams, Anthony Miller, both of North Pole, Alaska; Tabby and husband Tory Crouse, of Hillsdale, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren, Ryder, Tatum, Wyatt and Elanon, two brothers Gregory and Robert Nusz of Enid, and one sister Priscilla Warner of Gilbert, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. Willie and Mrs. Margaret Oberst Nusz husband Mr. Bill Sturgeon and son David John Hess.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Our Daily Bread with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
