Billy Lawrence

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Billy Lawrence, 80, of Enid, will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday June 28, 2023 at Waukomis Christian Church with Pastor David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, (Southwest) of Aline. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Billy was born April 11, 1943 to Frank and Orpha P “Pettus” Lawrence in Cleo Springs and passed from this life June 23, 2023 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Helena and attended Aline schools. He married Millie Ent and from that union had three children Connie, Becky and Rick. Bill was a people person. He helped out friends, family and strangers. Because he enjoyed people, he always held jobs where he would help people. He worked as a welder, construction for highways and railroads, selling farm equipment and doing dirt work for the oil fields. He was also an entrepreneur, starting several businesses including equipment sales and owner and operator of several mailrooms, His true passion was farming, ranching, and buying and selling minerals. He married Dorothy Etchell September 7, 1989 and gained two more children, Dottie and Jimmy. Also in 1989, he started his own company called Red Oak Minerals. In his spare time, he always enjoyed family, gambling, boating and taking his grandkids on adventures (vacations).

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lawrence; his children Connie, Becky, Rick and Kara, Jim and Dottie and Scott; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Kimberly, Lacy, Tommy, Joe, Devin, Colton, Zach, and Bella; eleven great grandchildren; one sister Linda Davidson, and two brother Terry and Danny Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Orpha Lawrence, brother John Lawrence and great grandson Easton.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Waukomis Christian Church, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
