Catherine Mayberry

The Memorial Service Celebrating and Honoring the life of Cathy Mayberry, 62, of Guthrie, will be held privately.

Catherine “Cathy” Mary Mayberry, daughter of Clyde “Pete” Junior Mayberry and Mary Inez Snyder Mayberry was born September 19, 1957 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. She was raised and educated in Ogle County, Northern Illinois where she graduated from Leaf River High School in 1976. Eventually she moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma where she obtained her Certified Nurses Assistance license at Guthrie Job Corp. Cathy worked at various nursing homes in Oklahoma City until 1995, when she relocated back to Northern Illinois.  She continued to work as a C.N.A. at various nursing homes in Byron, Illinois and Rockford, Illinois. In 2014, she moved back to Guthrie, Oklahoma with her children and grandchildren. She most recently worked at Guthrie Cottages, which she continued her passion of caring for others as she had been for more than 40 years, until she was medically unable to. She quietly departed this life on Monday, July 27 ^th , 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She never married; however, had two beautiful daughters.  She enjoyed sewing, working cross word puzzles, taking care of others, she was a very hard worker, enjoyed watching Tyler Perry movies and Little House on the Prairie. She also loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and school programs.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her daughters: Melinda D. Harper and husband Markiel, Teresa A. Mayberry both of Guthrie; grandchildren, Rahmel, Ta’Ryah, Ta’Myah, Jaylen, Justin, Jahvari, Ja’Vion, and Bailey; siblings, Richard Mayberry of Leaf River, IL, Gary Mayberry and wife Belinda of Pecatonica, IL, Vera Mayberry and husband John of Paragould, AR, Billy Mayberry and wife Sherry of Dixon, IL; nieces and nephews, Dan, Tina, Becky, Sheena, Christina, Mary, Tiffany, Ben, Jake, Casey, Brock, Landon; a host of great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Mary Mayberry; sister-in-law Betty Mayberry.

A homegoing celebration will held in Guthrie, Oklahoma August 8th at 2pm. Another will be held in Rockford, Illinois September 19th, time TBD. Please contact Teresa for details at [email protected] or on Facebook.
