December 20, 1943 — November 22, 2017

The Memorial Service celebrating and honoring the life of Charles David “Dave” Wynne Jr., 73, of Newkirk, OK will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday December 3, 2017 at the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Davis officiating.

Dave was born December 20, 1943 in Cardin, Oklahoma to Charles David Wynne Sr. and Doris Lee Vaughn and died from liver cancer on November 22, 2017 at his home in Newkirk, Oklahoma. His wife and family by his side.

He grew up with his younger sister and only sibling Sharon. Dave was only a young teen when he picked up his first guitar and taught himself to play. He had a great love for music that would last his entire life.  He entertained and touched many with his talent. He later met, dated, and married his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Alice Collins on February 14, 1962 in their hometown of Kellogg.

Dave enlisted in the United States Army shortly before he was married and served for five and a half years where he received the medal of Commendation as well as the Good Conduct Medal. During that time he served thirteen months in Vietnam and was a Sergeant Battery B, 2 nd Battalion, 33 rd Artillery 1 st Infantry Division.

After he was honorably discharged from the army, Dave returned to Kellogg and worked in the Bunker Hill Mine and formed a band called Dave Wynne and the Whirlwinds where he sang and played music throughout the northwest United States. The couple then moved to California where Dave worked for the Department of Water and Power of City of Los Angeles, where he retired in 2001. They then moved to Arizona where he was the owner of a construction company, and later moved to Newkirk, Oklahoma to be close to family.

Dave was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God headquartered in Edmond, Oklahoma. He daily read his Bible and held fast to his faith trusting God to the end of his life. Dave enjoyed being a grandparent, playing his guitar, and traveling. He loved God, family, his country and was a true patriot.

He is survived by his wife Alice, his oldest daughter Sherri Mazza, daughter Robin Wynne, daughter Trisha Mazza, and only son Charles Wynne, their spouses, his Mother Doris and sister Sharon, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
