The Memorial Services celebrating and honoring the life of Darren Alan Westfahl Burkes, 52, of Fairview, will be held 3:00 P.M. September 17, 2022, in the Meadowlake Park. Complete cremation care under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Darren was born August 1, 1970, to Duane Westfahl and Deborah DeArmond Burkes in Pratt, Kansas, and passed from this life August 1, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was adopted at the age of 8 by Terry Leroy Burkes. He was raised in Pratt until the age of two then he lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado. He graduated from Garden City High School with the class of 1990. He served his country honorably in the Oklahoma National Guard. He was a “Jack of all trades” He worked for many years as an automotive mechanic and Auto Body repair technician. He enjoyed running track in high school, Bowling, fishing, skydiving, and spending time with his children and grandson. He always was a strong believer in God and enjoyed attending church.

He is survived by his mother Debi Burkes, of Coldwater, Kansas; his father, Terry Burkes, of Carmen, Oklahoma; his biological father, Duane and Linda Westfhal, of Stafford, Kansas; his sister, Darci Burkes, of Fairview; step-brothers, Stacy and Dustin Pugh, of Sylvia, Kansas; half-sisters, Tamara Cody of Kansas City, Kansas, and Amy and Randy Brush of Kansas City, Kansas; step-sister, Misha Gaeddert, of Sylvia, Kansas,; two half-brothers, Cory and his wife Dawn Westfahl and their daughters, Cierra Lynn and Savanna Jo, of Sylvia, Kansas, and Travis and Julia Westfahl, of Buhler, Kansas; his children, Rebekah and husband William Bookout, of Fairview, DaLoryn and husband R.J. Steinbrook, of Canyon City, Colorado, Karissa Burkes, of Enid, and Hayden Burkes, of Enid; one grandson, Sebastian Bookout; one nephew, Terren Burkes and wife Stephanie and their children, Serenity and Jocelyn, of Coldwater, Kansas; one niece, Harlee Burkes, of Fairview, Oklahoma; and numerous other friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harry and Lorene DeArmond, William and Marjorie Westfahl, and Charles and Nina Burkes; his cousins Justin Bailey, Mindy Daniel; and many other family members.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to his service fund at Bank of Coldwater in Coldwater, Kansas.
