George was born April 1, 1935 in Independence, Missouri to Robert and Dale (Payne) Moore and passed from this life on October 26, 2018 in Enid, Oklahoma with his family by his side.
He was raised and educated in Ft. Worth, Texas. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1954. He then attended Texas Christian University and graduated with a degree in marketing. After college, he worked as a salesman for AC Sparkplug, a divison of General Motors . In 1963, while paying a sales call to the Automotive Parts Warehouse in Ft. Smith, AR, he met Virginia “Sue” Jones who was the receptionist and switchboard operator there. They married in 1964 in Ft. Smith and then moved to Okmulgee, OK where he joined his uncle’s insurance firm. After a few years in the insurance field, George went to work for East Central Electric Co-operative . In 1972, he and his wife purchased The Blossom Shop and were the owners and operators of it until they sold it in 1986. During his years in Okmulgee, George was involved in civic leadership. He was on the board of directors for the local YMCA; served a term as a city councilman as well as president of the Lions Club, and was a member of the Elks and the Masonic Lodges.
In the late 1970s and early 80s, physical fitness became a passion for him. He took up running and even completed a few marathons. He also taught an early morning aerobics class at the YMCA. He enjoyed boating and camping at Lake Eufaula with his family.
In the early 90s, he made a career transition into the counseling field and worked for Human Skills and Resources in Tulsa as a DUI instructor. He was certified in anger management and set up impact panels. This career change proved to be his true calling as his former students often came back to visit him years later and tell him how much he had helped them. He always had a passion for helping others and would even invite people who had fallen on tough times into his home to help them get back on their feet. He was a friend to the friendless, and there was nothing he would not do for someone. He not only had a heart for people but also for animals and never turned away a stray dog or cat.
In 2003 he married Terry Fallier. The couple made their home in Okmulgee. In George's later years, he enjoyed taking walks and playing solitaire. In 2016, George and Terry moved to Enid to be near family.
He is survived by his wife Terry; his daughter Andrea Schreiner and her husband Andy; grandchildren Lily and Jack; stepdaughter Amanda Gast and Dustin; and his nephews and nieces: Robert Elliott and wife Rose, Karyn Payne, Missy Elliott, David Elliott, Mike Roscio, Tina Roscio; and his cousin Tommy Payne and wife Wanda. He was also close with the nieces and nephews of his former wife, Sue. They are: John Autry and wife Dee Dee, Terri McNeal and husband David, Debbie Jones and husband Ted, Vita Simpkins-Tyra and husband Austin, and Ross Morreale and wife Frances.
George leaves behind many friends. Some of those he counted as his closest over the years were Raymond Brewer and Dean Craig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dale Elliott, his sister Thomasine Roscio, and his son George Moore, Jr.
