Jack P. Whitten

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Mr. Jack Preston Whitten, 90, of Enid, formerly of Muskogee will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday November 14, 2017 in the Central Baptist Church of Muskogee, OK with The Pastor Gary Smith and the Rev. Dr. Martin Thielen co-officiating. Burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee.  A family visitation will be held 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday November 12, 2017 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born May 27, 1927 in Muskogee to Jack P. and Gladys Bradfield Whitten. He was raised and educated in Muskogee, graduating from Muskogee High school in 1945. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University. He worked at the Dodge dealership for several years He then worked at Fansteel Metallurgical corp. for 28 years until his retirement.   He married his wife of 65 years, Betty Starnes on June 4, 1948 in Muskogee.

He was an active member, choir member and deacon at the Central Baptist Church.

He enjoyed golf, board games, hunting and fishing, and anything involving family time.

He is survived by son, Barry Whitten and wife Jeannie, of Tulsa, daughter, Marsha Lines and husband Colonel (Ret.)  Robert Lines, of Enid; Son, Rodger Whitten and wife Barbara, of Wrightwood, CA., Sister, Loretta Rosser, of Long Beach CA., and brother, Joe Whitten and wife Ming, of Big Spring, TX. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, twin brother, Jerry Whitten, sister, Helen Akers Stith and brother Phil Whitten.

Memorials may be made to the Gospel Rescue Mission, Muskogee with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
