James Gragg

The service celebrating and honoring the life of James Harlan Gragg, 69, of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 27, 2023, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. Complete Cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.

James was born February 12, 1954, to Harlan and Bessie (Ward) Gragg in Sacramento, California and passed from this life December 25, 2023, in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated all over California, mainly in Bakersfield. He worked as a mechanic for many years until moving Missouri in 1990 and later to Enid to be near family in 1993. He began working as a long-haul truck driver in 2001 until he was medically unable and retired. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and his 49rs, taking care of his numerous pets and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who had affectionately named him “Papa Smurf”.

He is survived by one daughter Shawna Gragg; four sons, Jason Gragg and wife Angie, James Gragg, Michael Gragg and wife Lori, and Rudy Gragg and wife Lisa; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Gragg and Alfred Gragg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Deanna Gragg, his parents Harlan and Bessie (Ward) Gragg; one brother Mike Gragg; and one sister, Carolyn Gragg.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Brown-Cummings Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
