Jesse James Vanhoozer

September 26, 1931 — October 19, 2021

Jessie James Vanhoozer of Medford, Oklahoma stepped into Heaven and into the presence of his Savior on October 18, 2021, in Enid, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, & 22 days. Jessie was born September 26, 1931, in Athens, Alabama to the late Alec & Mary Vanhoozer. He obtained his education in Athens, Alabama. When Jessie had completed the 8 th grade, he went to work on the family farm. Jessie later went on to join the United States Air Force where he served as a cook in Korea. One of the many stories that Jessie would share with his family was when he served in Korea, he did not get much sleep. So, Jessie would sleep while serving the meals to his fellow airmen. According to Jessie he never missed a bowl even though he was sleeping. After his service to his country, Jessie married the love of his life, Marion Miller who preceded in death in 2013. Later in life Jessie went to work for Grant County where he worked in maintenance. Jessie was believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Lamont, Oklahoma. Jessie enjoyed going fishing and shooting his guns. Jessie leaves behind to cherish his memory, Granddaughters; Pam Lascewski, Amanda Boone, Nicole Hueppelsheaser, and Jonathan Boone; Great-Grandchildren, Jordyn Hueppelsheaser, Carter Lascewski, Rileigh Lascewski, Ryan Hueppelsheaser, Jacob Miller, Gwen Miller, and Gabriel Childress. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marion Vanhoozer, two brothers, and daughters, Deborah Shook and Kathy Skinner. Memorial services to honor and celebrate Jessie’s life will be held at a later date. The family ask that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Brown-Cummings Funeral Home, 400 West Maple Enid, OK 73701 to assist with final expenses.
