Joe Bradford

The Homegoing Services Celebrating and Honoring the life of Joe Louis Bradford, 76, of Enid, will be held 1:00 P.M September 7, 2020 in the First Missionary Baptist Church with the Pastor Flynn Officiating. Burial will be held the following day on September 8, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army with readings by his brother in love Pastor Fields. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

On Monday, August 24, 2020, Joe L. Bradford, magnanimous human of this earth and father of one child four grandchildren and one great grandchild, ascended to the spiritual realm at the age of 76.

Joe was born August 25, 1943 to Wiley and Ellan Elizabeth Bradford in Watonga, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Enid, Oklahoma and attended Carver as well as Booker T. Washington High school. He imparted his skills generously to the workforce through various opportunities from a very young age. As a young man he was a Flight Line Director at Vance Air Force Base, an electrician for OG&E, a Direct Care Specialist at NORCE and a logistic manager for Otasco Department Store. At the age of 28 he enlisted in the United States Army March 23, 1972 and served twenty-three years. He raised one daughter, helped to raise many others, and the entire community through unpretentious love.

Joe had a passion for philanthropy. He also loved to advocate for the greater good. He joined both his passions and developed extraordinary change in betterment overall and affecting the lives of many. One could always count on an intellectually profound conversation when you see Joe coming be it for a few moments or all day long (he was coming to share the knowledge). He intrinsically wanted people to stand for rectitude and hold those accountable for impeding it. Joe was an avid advocate partial to his community, but copiously open to others who welcomed his help. He was known for his political consciousness, quick wit, his convivial smile, and his generous and compassionate spirit.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Wiley, mother, Ellen, brothers Elotis and Lonnie, and sisters Peggie and Amelia. He is survived by his daughter Dr. D’Andria Davis-Bradford, granddaughters, Da’Kerra Davis, Shiley Hinton, and Cu’Leigha Hinton, and great grandchild, Ji’Yel Davis. He is also survived by his siblings Josephine and Wilma and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
