The Mass of Christian burial for Kathleen Sue Taul, 73, of Enid will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday September 19, 2017 in St. Matthews Episcopal Church with Reverend Dr. John Toles officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Kathleen Sue Taul, daughter of Marian Tolin Taul and John W. Taul was born in Holton, Kansas, on August 1, 1944, and passed away September 10, 2017.
Kathleen spent her first few weeks in Soldier, Kansas, with her mom and grandparents awaiting the return of her dad from overseas duty in the Navy. Her next home was with her father and mother in Corpus Christi, Texas, where her dad was stationed. During Navy days, she and her mom spent time in Soldier, Kansas, with her grandparents, Leon and Effie Tolin, Aunt and Uncle, Gaylord and Ester Tribble, and cousins Bonnie and Burton Tribble.
After Navy days were over, she and her family lived first in the Big Springs/Waco, Texas area, where her dad became affiliated with the Sonotone Hearing Aid Company. Their next move was to Greeley, Colorado, where she began her first years of school and enjoyed scouting and family activities from their little home there. Long Beach, California, was where they located next, again with Sonotone Company. The final move for the family was Enid, Oklahoma, this move being made both for the company and so that the family could be closer to her aging grandparents in Kansas.
Kathleen graduated from Enid High School in 1963 and later from Blackwell General Hospital’s Practical Nursing School. She earned her LPN Certificate in 1965 and worked for several years at Bass hospital. After leaving the nursing profession she enjoyed providing child care for special friends Andy and Diane Fosmire and their children, and always appreciated their care and attention when she had special needs. She was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal church in Enid.
Kathleen spent many years helping provide loving care for her father in his last illness and again provided total care for her aging mother until she passed away at the age of 93. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents Leon and Effie Tolin.
Survivors include cousins Bonnie Coverdale, her husband Roger, and their family and Burton Tribble and his wife Beverly and their family all in the northeast Kanas area. She was also very fond of her church family at St. Matthews, her special friends Andy and Diane Fosmeier and their family and her friends and neighbors at Meadow Point apartments in Enid, and most recently at Golden Oaks Retirement Community in Enid.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Episcopal Church with Brown-Cummings serving as custodians of the funds.
