Kenneth was born October 22, 1952, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Wilbur N. And Virginia Mitchell Benson and passed from this life April 23, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He graduated from Dover High School in 1970 he then  attended O.S.U for three years. He married Debbie Gardner on March 28, 1975, in Dover. He was employed at Farrar Construction, in Dover and Choate-Isbell Ford in Hennessey before fulfilling his lifelong dream of owning his own business. He owned and operated Kenny Benson Transportation for twenty years before retiring to spend time with his family. He enjoyed spending his free time traveling to classic car shows in his ’69 GTO. He loved driving fast and disturbing all the neighbors revving the engine of his ’68 Camero drag car in the middle of the night while loading it on the trailer to go to the race track the next day. He loved to travel to new places and was always game for all the adventures, whether that was swimming with the sharks and dolphins or braving a zipline.

He served as the Dover Civil Defense Director until his death. He was a ham radio operator and was a member of the Dover Fire Department for twenty years where he served as Chief at the time of his retirement. His calling to serve the community stemmed from his father who was a founding member of the Dover Fire Department which has had a “Benson” serving since its inception.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years Debbie Benson of the home; one daughter, Lisa Benson, of Dover; one sister, Connie Bailey and husband Clint, of Dover; one brother, Gene Benson, of Stillwater; one granddaughter, Emma Benson, of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Ann Benson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his honor to the Dover Fire Department with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
