Jack Ninness

The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Jack Ninness, 89, of Enid will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday February 20, 2020 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born January 09, 1931 to Clarence and Hortense Royer Ninness in Seminole, Oklahoma and passed from this life on February 14, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Davenport, OK. where he attended Davenport High School. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1949, during the Korean War. He married the love of his life Mary Stephens in 1952, the couple would be married for over sixty-seven years. After fourteen years of service he became a Commissioned Warrant Officer of the United States Army. He served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam for a total of over twenty-one years. He then moved from Wichita Falls, TX. to Amarillo, and then to Lackland Air Force Base before moving to Killeen, TX. He moved with his family to Virginia, then Colorado Springs, before finally moving to Enid. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic, worked on helicopter test flights, and also worked in his own custom cabinet shop, Jack Ninness Cabinet Company for nearly twenty years. He also helped drive the school bus for over twenty years. He later earned his Real Estate License. He also helped teach mechanics and cabinet building at Autry Vo-Tech. He was a member of the American Legion and he enjoyed fishing. He loved to help out on his family’s farm but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Mary Ninness, children, Michael Ray Ninness, Calvin Wayne Ninness and wife Kim, and Janet Diane Ninness Thompson and husband Steve, five grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
