The services celebrating and honoring the life of Mary “Sandy” Erdman, 75, of Enid will be held privately at a later date. Complete cremation care is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Sandy was born September 25, 1943 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to Samuel and Margueretta Joann Kunselman and passed from the life on October 31, 2018 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in various places due to her father’s military career. She moved to Massachusetts and then to Le’on France, and then to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany where she attended high school. In 1969 her family was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base where she met Ronald Erdman. In 1971 they were married at Tinker. The couple moved to Stillwater in 1973 while he finished his engineering degree. The family was stationed at Duluth Air Force Base Minnesota from 1975 to 1979. In 1979 they moved to Enid, OK and were stationed at Vance AFB until 1985. While in Enid she worked at the State School caring for the children. She loved all the kids. They then moved to Cheyenne, WY in 1985 and were stationed at FE Warren AFB until 1989. While in Wyoming she owned and operated a daycare that she cherished. In 1989 they moved to Southern California and eventually returned to Enid in 1991.
Sandy was a phenomenal wife, mother, caretaker, and friend. She learned to cook while growing up in France and was an incredible cook and baker, making everything from scratch. Sandy was great at fishing and could make anything grow in the garden. She was also known as a master adapter never meeting a stranger. She adored children and had a very special heart for them. She would always be carrying lollipops to give to children.
She was also an animal lover taking them in and caring for them like her children. She had a caregiver’s heart. She also enjoyed board games, camping and playing baseball with her kids.
She is survived by her husband Ronald Erdman and children; Douglas, Tracy, Daniel, David, Kelly, Kim, and Tina; seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Rhonda and Joyce.
