The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating and honoring the life of Maureen Wright, 69, of Enid will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday April 01, 2020 in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Reverend Father Mark Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Maureen Kay Wright, also loving known as “Meanie” or Granny, age 69, passed away on March 20, 2020 in Enid, OK with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born November 21, 1950 in Dumas, Texas to Bud and Mary Ellen Dainty.

Growing up in Miami, Oklahoma she attended Miami High School, Class of 1969, and Northeastern Oklahoma State College.  After transferring to Southwestern Oklahoma State University, she graduated with a Degree in Business Administration.  She then attended Hillcrest Medical School and graduated as a Register Record Administrator in 1973.

She married her life-long love, Jim Wright, on June 3, 1972 in Miami, Oklahoma. In 1973 they moved to Terre Haute, Indiana where Maureen became the Medical Records Director of Terre Haute Regional Hospital.  In 1978 they moved back to Enid where Maureen became the Director of Medical Records at Bass Baptist Hospital.

Maureen loved leading Girl Scout Troops through camps and weekly meetings. She also enjoyed weekend getaways at Grand Lake where they spent time on the boat and with good friends.  Maureen and Jim were also happy on two wheels riding their motorcycle throughout Indiana.  After having a child, they put this passion for riding on the side and later became members of Corvettes of Enid. She really enjoyed family trips to the mountains, amusement parks and especially going to Key West to visit her daughter, Allison and granddaughter Ashton. She enjoyed her membership in the Pilot Club and was a longstanding member of Catholic Daughters of America.

In 1986, Maureen conquered a severe allergic reaction that nearly took her life multiple times.  As a result, she was one of the first case in Oklahoma with Steven-Johnson Syndrome where she lost majority of her eyesight and developed other severe conditions. This didn’t stop her from living her life for another 34 years.

Her new calling in heaven will include socializing, dancing, gardening, and laughter without pain and able to see everything in vibrant color.

Maureen is survived by her husband, Jim Wright; daughter Allison Jackson and her husband Que’Shaun; grandchildren, Ashton Kilbourne, Corrinne Kilbourne, Peyton Kilbourne, Javyn Jackson, and Jamarri Jackson. Close family, Mike and Janene Dainty, Pat and Patty Dainty. All of which she loved and touched deeply.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Stevens Johnson Syndrome Foundation with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
