Melvin was born January 2, 1939, to Jonnie and Edna Miller Barrow in Rattan, Oklahoma, and passed from this life August 12, 2022, in Enid, Oklahoma.
He was raised and educated in Rattan, Oklahoma. He worked as a laborer, a bricklayer, and a mechanic for most of his years. He met the love of his life, Joan Shuman, while attending church; the couple married July 1, 1970, in Guthrie, Oklahoma and from this union came two daughters, Charlotte and Karen. He was a member of the Edmond First Assembly of God Church for many years and attended the Cowboy Church. He enjoyed playing the banjo, occasionally fishing, listening to gospel music, and collecting knives. He was a big thinker with a very inventive mind; he loved to tinker and could make just about anything out of whatever was laying around. He absolutely loved his friends at Braums and spending time with his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Colette, of Tennessee, Charlotte Reiter and husband Mark, of Waukomis, and Karen Stevens and husband Larry, of Enid; six grandchildren, Krystal Blevins and husband Mack, of Crescent, Hogan Burleigh and husband Ben, of Enid, Brooke Ashlock and husband Kelly, of Waukomis, Mark Reiter, of Dover, Amber and Jason, of Tennessee; ten great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy, of Harrah and Reitha, of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan Barrow; one daughter, Melva Barrow; his parents Johnnie Barrow and Edna and Tom Hedge, and his brother, Bob Hedge
