The family visitation celebrating and honoring the life of Nina “Janece” or “MeMe” Ridgway, 70, of Drummond, will be held 6:00-7:00 P.M. Monday February 12, 2017 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Arrangements and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born August 16, 1947 to Julian Purdue and Laura Neihaus in Enid and passed from this life on February 6, 2018 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in Enid, graduating with the Enid High School Class of 1966. She married Verlyn Ridgway in July of 1977 in Enid. The couple moved to Drummond in 1985 where they made their home. She was a second mother to her niece Jennifer and nephew Julian and a grandmother to their children. She worked in several positions in the community including daycares and worked as a dietary aide at St. Mary’s Hospital for 23 years. She enjoyed riding horses and always had cats and dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years Verlyn, of the home; 2 sisters Jeanie Dutton, of Enid and Judy Markes, of San Diego, California; one brother Joe Purdue and wife Sharon, of Raleigh, North Carolina; one step-daughter Natalie and one-step son Jason, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jimmy; and step-daughter, Nicole.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Kidney Division with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as the custodians of the funds.
