Ray Ballard

September 30, 1955 — October 31, 2022

The Memorial services celebrating the life of Ray Ballard, 67, of Sand Springs, formerly of Enid, will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday November 10, 2022 in the Emmanuel Enid Church. Services and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Ray was born to Ray and Anna Walter Ballard September 30, 1955, in Germany where his father was stationed. Ray took his last ride with his faithful dog Lucky by his side October 31, 2022. Ray’s early years were spent in Germany he had one story after another of his adventures there from sleeping under the Eiffel Tower to walking miles with his Grandpa working the vineyard. He moved with his family to Atlanta when he was twelve. He later moved with his mom and 2 late brothers, George and Michael, to Enid, where he attended Pioneer High School. After school he spent several years working on ranches as a Cowboy strengthening his love for horses and roping. During this time, he attended Ferrier College. Later, he entered into the construction industry which he quickly mastered with the help of his mentor Jim Stephens.
Ray was always a kid at heart; he spent several years mentoring young men as a boy scout leader when his children, Drifter and Dakota, were young. Ray continued roping and won several buckles. He was wearing his prized buckle when he passed.
Ray didn’t sweat the small stuff. He had his own way of doing things and lived life believing fiercely in God. Ray always did the right thing, but the Ray way. He had a huge heart with tremendous faith in humanity you’d know that by the keys left in his truck.
Ray was an all-around larger than life full-on cowboy. He loved working his ranch, building fence, welding architectural pieces of junk art, fishing, boating and teaching life lessons to his grandkids.
He married Connie Sanders on September 30, 2007 they shared an amazing fifteen-year marriage full of love.
He is survived by his children Drifter, Dakota, Austin, Brittany and Samantha; 11 grandchildren; and many other beloved extended family members.
