Sandy Dowd

October 6, 1942 — August 9, 2024

Sandra (Sandy) Dowd was born on October 6, 1942, and passed away on August 9, 2024. She was a strong willed, sweet, and loving person who loved her horses and her dog, Rex, as much as she loved her human loved ones. She competed in barrel racing and raised and bred horses all of her life. She was a good daughter, a good mother, a wonderful sister, a good friend and will be missed by all of those who loved her. She graduated from Enid High School in 1960 and attended multiple colleges. She worked in Vail Colorado after college, eventually becoming the manager of the Vail Village Inn. She relocated to Castle Rock Colorado to co-manage the Three Oaks Stallion Station and subsequently practiced as an accountant in Castlerock for the remainder of her working life. She returned to liveon a ranch near Yukon, Oklahoma, with her beloved daughter, Jennie, for the last 15 years of her all too brief time on earth.

Sandy was preceded in death by the passing of her father and mother, Charles and Irene Dowd. She is survived by her daughter, Jennie House; her brothers, Bruce Day of Nichols Hills, Oklahoma, and Jim Day of Sugarland, Texas, and by her granddaughter, Sidney House of Enid, Oklahoma.
Sandy’s memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 17th, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Maple Avenue in Enid Oklahoma followed by her internment in the Memorial Park Cemetery, 6405 Memorial Drive.
