The Home Going Celebrating the Life of Sherry Ann Washington, 76, of Enid will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 15, 2019 in the First Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Wilbur Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Sherry Ann (Simon) Washington was born June 25, 1942 to Willie and Louvenia (Davis) Simon. The oldest of six to this union. Born, raised, and lifelong resident of Enid, Oklahoma. She attended Carver Elementary and graduated in 1960 from Booker T. Washington. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, later joining First Baptist Church which is now First Missionary Baptist Church. Being a lifelong resident of Enid she held many domestic jobs, including Youngblood Hotel, Community Day Care and twenty-five years of service at the Enid State School, Robert M Greer Center and NORCE. Sherry loved and cared for many. Her family she was truly dedicated to.
On August 15, 1965, she married Leonard Washington and to this union LuCarol Washington (Betty as she would be later called) was born. Ten years later she met Coy Ward and Brian Eugene was born.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two grandchildren, four brothers, and her beloved dog Oreo.
Leaving to cherish her memory, two sisters Loretta Bell and Gwen Simon, Johnnie Porter Sr. Theresa Porter Williams, Vickie Slaughter, (Betty) LuCarol Washington, of the home and Brian Eugene Ward, of Bronx, New York, three grandchildren, Ronntae, De’aun, and Allexxus, and four great grandchildren Anniah, Aaliyah, Maliyah, and Alex, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sherry truly lived her life helping and caring for others until the very end. For those who knew her, she was truly your friend. No matter the need she made herself available to help no matter what. Her love of family and friends is what kept her going.
