The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating and honoring the life of Timothy Roger “Tim” Traynor, 78, of Enid will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 26, 2022, in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father Mark Mason Officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Tim was born October 31, 1943, to Arthur and Martha Edwards Traynor in Enid, Oklahoma, and passed from this life August 17, 2022, in Enid, Oklahoma.

Tim was an only child but was raised with a multitude of first cousins. He graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1961 and then attended the University of Oklahoma, where he became a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 1965, Tim graduated with his Bachelor of Accounting degree and continued his education at The University of Oklahoma College of Law, graduating in 1968. While at the University of Oklahoma, he met the love of his life, Susan “Suzy” Austin, and they married on August 24, 1968, in Joliet, Illinois.  Tim then proudly received his commission as an officer in the United States Army where he was stationed in El Paso at Fort Bliss. During his military service in the Vietnam conflict, Tim received the Bronze Star Medal. Captain Tim Traynor honorably retired from the Army and returned to Enid where he began his law practice in 1970 with the Wright – Sawyer Law Firm. He developed a true passion for helping individuals and families as an attorney.

Tim was a true pillar of the Enid community.  He served as both president and campaign chairman of the Enid United Way from whom he received the Dick Lambertz Award. Tim served as president of the Garfield County Bar Association and helped establish the Enid Community Foundation, now the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation. He was a member and past president of Enid Estate Planning Council and was on the Parrish Council at St. Francis Xavier Church.  He served twenty years on the board of trustees of the Oklahoma Catholic Foundation as well as a past president. He was a long-time member of the Enid Rotary Club, a club in which his father was also a member. When asked about his accomplishments, Tim would say his proudest accomplishment was his work with the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation.

When not at the office or serving the community, Tim enjoyed spending time playing golf and hunting quail alongside his bird dog, Bud. He cherished the special times when he, his father, and his sons could all go hunting together.

Tim is survived by his wife Suzy Traynor, of the home; two sons, Brad Traynor and wife Annessa, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Dan Traynor and wife Amy, of Houston; and four grandchildren whom he was extremely proud of, Timothy Liam, Anna Elizabeth, Olivia and Taber. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tim’s honor to the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
