Wesley "Andrew" Allen was born March 10, 1962 to Wayne and Owanna Allen in Springfield, Illinois, and passed from this life June 2, 2024 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Springfield, graduating high school in 1980 from the Center for Alternative Education. He then worked as a musician and bartender. In 1987 he married Elizabeth Ann Hilligoss in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, after which the couple moved to Flint, Michigan while his wife completed her internship. They moved to Enid in 1988, where Andrew worked as a bartender at various establishments, including Frisco Bar, where he met many people who would become longtime friends.

Andrew was passionate about ensuring justice for Native Americans, and was a videographer with the Native American Network covering the Leonard Peltier case and the religious freedom case for Native Americans at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. An avid reader and lifelong learner, particularly in the subjects of religion and philosophy, in 2010 he completed the Education for Ministry (EFM) from the School of Theology, University of the South. Family and friends will remember Andrew for his wit and irreverent sense of humor, and his ability to laugh at both the world’s foibles and his own, in all situations, good and bad. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Andrew’s pride and joy was his family, and he found the greatest meaning in his role as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Gregarious, outgoing, and quick to take an interest in and help others, he was also blessed with many dear friends and “bonus sons” who he loved deeply. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Allen of Enid; his sons, Milo Allen (Shaney and Lyric), of Tonkawa, and Noah Allen (Kelsey), of Guthrie; sisters Christina Danielle Allen and Kelly Allen; the light of his life, granddaughter Lucy Allen; nephews Moses, Clovis, and Solomon Allen; mother-in-law, Margaret Moss; father-in-law, Dr. David Hilligoss; brothers-in-laws George and Matthew Hilligoss; and best friend, David Kuner.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law John Paul Hilligoss.
